Approach to Therapy

Hamied has completed over 10,000 hours of therapy and coaching over the past ten years and remains curious about coaching and therapy modalities outside his own training, always mindful to avoid dogma. He provides a confidential, compassionate, safe and non-judgemental space for you to attend to yourself. You may be seeking therapy to deal with your relationships, your life in general, anxiety, depression, crisis of meaning and life purpose – to name but a few. The hope is that this process will offer a precious and regular opportunity for you to take a fresh look at yourself and your life.

Fundamental to the work will be a relationship of trust and safety.  The ethical guidelines of BACP (British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists) around confidentiality and professional conduct and the ICF (International Coaching Federation) codes are followed at all times. Full professional indemnity insurance is in place.

His approach is based on the belief that as social beings our challenges need to be looked at in the context of our relationships. Looking at your individual and internal processes may well involve reflecting on your past and your past relationship patterns. However, the focus is more on the here and now. This means paying attention to the mind, body and emotions, and how they can each find their rightful place in our unique life.

The work will be tailored to your goals and aspirations. Work can be based on thought patterns and behaviours that don’t serve you anymore. Or it may be necessary to trace back to earlier blocks and relationships. While Hamied’s training is in Psychosynthesis (which emphasises a holistic and person-centred approach) he draws upon other schools and modalities as necessary such as Gestalt, Existential, Psychodynamic, Mindfulness, Humanistic and others.

He works with a range of requirements from short term solution-focused work to long term counselling, working with deep-rooted issues.
